SRTS: Blue Zones Safe Streets
About Blue Zones Project: Safe Streets Campaign
Blue Zones Project® is a community well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks. The Project was brought to the Umpqua Valley by Oregon Healthiest State, Cambia Health Foundation and our generous local funders.
We all share the responsibility to make our community’s streets safe for everyone, including pedestrians, bicyclists, strollers, people with disabilities and on wheels. Safe places to walk, bike and roll are important for supporting active, vibrant communities. Blue Zones Project launched the #RoseburgSafeStreets Campaign in 2019 to remind drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians to share the road safely. Let’s remember that safety is a two way street!
The Safe Streets Campaign focuses on spreading public education messages about street safety to residents of all ages and spotlighting the need for increased safety measures along highly-trafficked corridors.
The Campaign encourages our community:
- to follow the Rules of the Road in all modes of transportation
- use crosswalks and wait for signals
- slow down and watch for people when driving
- promote “Safe Streets” and sharing the road for all users
