Julie Hurley steps into the new role as the Early Learning Executive Director at Douglas ESD.  

Douglas ESD is thrilled to announce that Julie Hurley has accepted the position as the Early Learning Executive Director.

Julie has been with the agency for more than five years and has provided program coordination for early learning education services. She is a strategic thinker with a passion for promoting the importance of early learning, while making sure that all children and families have the tools and supports needed to thrive. Her educational background in organization communication and business administration provides additional insight into business practices.

She will begin her new role on July 1, and in this newly created position, she will be the executive director for all birth through age five educational and family partnership programming. This important position will provide guidance and promote collaboration across all early learning system in our region, in addition to supporting operational efficiency within the education service district’s processes.

The current programs include Early Intervention (EI), Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), South – Central Early Learning Hub, Childcare Resource & Referral System (Care Connections), and the Parenting Hub (Take Root Parenting Connection) and Business Champions for Kids.

In Julie’s role she will guide high levels of collaboration amongst and between departments, effectively communicate with staff, family, community and school district stakeholders, and assure program resources and improvement efforts are aligned to meet the Board adopted goals for Douglas ESD.

What’s additionally exciting is that the programs are all housed in our newly remodeled 1871 NE Stephens Street building, now known as the Early Learning and Parenting Resource Center (ELPRC). Within the building, the Parent Resource Center is a welcoming environment were parents or guardians can stop by to learn about resources, read books with their children or attend activity-related events.
