TEMPORARY Program Assistant

Speech Department

20 days / 8 hours per day / 5 days per week


Conducts hearing screenings for students on re-screen list, without interpretation, using specific screening protocols under the direction of the SLP and Audiologist for the ESD

This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.

  • Completes required training on ESD equipment and screening process under supervision of ESD Audiologist
  • Provides services to students by following written or verbal instructions of the Audiologist as well as school building processes
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing
  • Ability to communicate verbally to students and staff, particularly with school building personnel.
  • Conducts hearing screenings without interpretation, using specific screening protocols under the direction of the SLP and Audiologist for the ESD.
  • Follow designated hearing screening protocols and processes in a variety of school settings.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate techniques and methods of student supervision in setting involving students with moderate to severe learning and/or social/behavioral difficulties.
  • Maintains good working relationships with ESD and local district personnel
  • Observes working hours and attends and participates at in-services and staff meetings
  • Follows directions and works well in a team situation with the SLPs and SLPAs
  • Adheres to workplace expectations
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to and from school locations in the Douglas ESD service area
  • Other duties as assigned
