Dec. 6, 2018 - Registration is now open for the annual technology conference AT Now! sponsored by Oregon Technology Access Program, Douglas Education Service District and Oregon Department of Education.
The professional development event will include a variety of guest speakers and presentations. It is scheduled for Feb. 7-9 at the Salem Convention Center. There will also be an AT Maker Fair on Feb. 9 that will feature national leaders in the AT Maker movement. The inaugural event is intended to stimulate interest and excitement in the movement throughout Oregon and will give educators the chance to take their projects to a new level to create devices and technology with a purpose.
Keynote speakers throughout the event include Dr. Susan Simmons, a passionate enthusiast of Universal Design for Learning, who will be giving a presentation on “Getting to Know Your Brain”; and Luis Perez and Kathleen McClaskey, who will give a presentation on “The Power of Story.” Perez is a technical assistance specialist at the National Center on Accessible Educational Materials at CAST, and McClaskey is the founder of Make Learning Personal and co-author of bestsellers “Make Learning Personal: The What, Who, Wow, Where and Why” and “How to Personalize Learning: A Practical Guide for Getting Started and Going Deeper.”
Among the many other speakers are Douglas ESD’s own Allison Bochart, a speech language pathologist serving multiple school districts in Douglas County, and Ryan Zeedyk, an instructional technology specialist.
