Feb. 7, 2020 - A partnership between Roseburg Cinema, Douglas Education Service District, Roseburg School District and Blue Zones Project Umpqua is giving local educators the chance to learn more about Conscious Discipline in a unique environment.
Educators from across Douglas County are participating in the ongoing professional development series at Roseburg Cinema that includes video screenings and the opportunity to discuss real classroom experiences.
“This partnership is allowing education professionals to mingle, relax and enjoy an opportunity for professional development in a setting outside their regular schools or classrooms,” said Debbie Price, education services coordinator at Douglas ESD. “These training videos are being offered once a month over the school year to further local work in trauma-informed care.”
Conscious Discipline is an innovative social-emotional learning and classroom management program with a proven track record of sustainable results. Schools across Douglas County are increasingly incorporating the program into classrooms to help improve student well-being and learning.
“This opportunity would not be possible without the outstanding collaboration with Roseburg Cinema,” Price said. “Their willingness to support these showings has allowed Roseburg School District, Douglas ESD and Blue Zones Project to deepen their work in Douglas County.”
