Bank of the Cascades supports PartnerSports Camp

A generous donation from the Bank of the Cascades will help ensure we have some happy campers in Douglas County this summer.

Last week, bank representatives delivered a check for $2,000 to Douglas Education Service District’s Bryan Hinson and Mike Goetz of the YMCA of Douglas County. The funds will support our jointly sponsored PartnerSports Camp program, which will take place this summer from July 10-20.

As Douglas ESD employees know, the annual summer gathering pairs 50 campers with disabilities and 50 partners without disabilities. Every partner has an opportunity to gain experience working with a camper and understand the daily challenges each faces.

Tabbitha Layman, the bank’s assistant branch manager, said Bank of the Cascades is committed to strengthening the communities it serves, and that directly supporting local schools and programs is one of its top priorities.

“The PartnerSports Camp is especially important, offering Douglas County students the opportunity to participate in a summer program at no cost to their families,” Layman said. “We look forward to building a strong partnership with the Douglas ESD, knowing that these students represent the future and will be part of the community’s growth and success in the years to come.”

PartnerSports Camp’s two-week schedule focuses mostly on sports, but also features traditional camp activities such as hiking, fishing, crafts and campfire cooking. We’ll be sharing photos from this year’s camp on our website and Facebook page.
