Preschool for low-income families offered at nine sites in South-Central Oregon Early Learning Hub region

Administrators are accepting applications for Preschool Promise, a full-day preschool program scheduled to begin at six Douglas County sites and three in Klamath County this fall.

Preschool Promise is a state-funded program that offers high-quality preschool to children ages 3 and 4 whose families live at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. The Oregon Department of Education has chosen to invest in preschool programs that meet certain standards as part of the state’s goal to ensuring more low-income children are ready for kindergarten. Ultimately, these children then are more ready to meet benchmarks, such as third-grade reading, that help ensure they will graduate from high school.

The South-Central Oregon Early Learning Hub, which serves about 9,700 children in the Douglas, Klamath and Lake counties region, was one of five applicants awarded state funds to implement Preschool Promise.

In Douglas County, Preschool Promise classrooms will begin at the following locations this fall. Space is limited, so families are advised to apply now. Information is available at school districts administering each site, as seen below:
