Teachers: Register now for summer workshops

Release Date:

Here are two summer workshops for teachers that will stretch your creativity, minds and (in one case) legs!

Early registration is encouraged for the Art Academy for Educators, taking place June 15-16 at the Umpqua Valley Arts Center in Roseburg and for the Outdoor Education Workshop, scheduled Aug. 17-18 at the Alder Creek Community Forest near Canyonville. Each training offers a $100 stipend as well as the opportunity to earn professional development units.

Art Academy participants will experience an Art Express lesson, identify ways that existing Art Express kits can be used to improve student outcomes and create a new kit tailored to oral and written communication outcomes.

Outdoor Education Workshop participants will acquire skills in three areas: outdoor/environmental education; spatial data technologies; and geographical concepts designed in part to place Douglas County in a larger regional and global context. An application is required before registration is accepted. A link can be found here.
