PartnerSports Camp announces "100 for $150 Club"

Release Date:
3/16/2016

Douglas ESD is launching a donation drive to secure free admission for kids who take part in the YMCA-Douglas ESD PartnerSports Camp, taking place July 11-21.

The “100 for $150 Club” aims to register at least 100 donors pledging $150 each to cover the cost of camper participation. This is the camp’s 11th year. It’s open to students across Douglas County.

The annual summer gathering pairs 50 campers with disabilities and 50 partners without disabilities. PartnerSports Camp’s two-week schedule focuses mostly on sports, but also features traditional camp activities such as hiking, fishing, crafts and campfire cooking. Every partner has an opportunity to gain experience working with a camper and understand the daily challenges each faces.

One hundred donations of $150 will allow each child to participate free of charge. The $150 sum represents estimated cost to accommodate one camper. With 100 sponsorships, the camp is free to all kids who register.

Donations may be from individuals, businesses or other groups. Contributions are being accepted at our office at 1871 N.E. Stephens St., Roseburg, OR 97470. The donation drive takes place through May 31.

Donors who give $150 will receive a PartnerSports Camp calendar that states “I’m a proud member of the 100 for $150 Club.” Donations to the camp are tax-deductible; a tax ID number can be provided on request.

Formerly known as Camp Shriver, PartnerSports Camp is a cooperative effort of Douglas ESD and the YMCA of Douglas County. Most activities take place at or are launched from the YMCA, 1151 N.W. Stewart Parkway, Roseburg.
