Seeking substitute teacher applicants
Do you have a bachelor’s degree? Have you ever thought about substitute teaching, but don’t currently have a teaching license?
Holding a bachelor’s degree is the primary requirement to be eligible for the “restricted substitute teaching license” through the state’s Teachers Standards and Practices Commission. And the Douglas Education Service District is looking for people to fill substitute teaching positions in our 13 region districts, which includes all Douglas County school districts, except Reedsport.
Substitute teachers are important for our schools and allow teachers to take needed time off for many reasons, such as scheduled professional development and the unscheduled health and personal emergencies.
This is a great opportunity for people looking for occasional or flexible work, or those considering a career change to teaching.
We have openings around the county every day of the school year across all age groups, and substitutes are able to work as much or as little as they want.
Douglas ESD will provide basic classroom management and instruction training. Pay for substitute’s starts at $173 a day.
An interview, background check and licensing fees apply, and there is currently a two to four month license processing time.
