Free parent educator training available for 20
DOUGLAS COUNTY – A new opportunity for Parent Educators is coming to Douglas County, thanks to a Family Support Services Grant.
The South-Central Oregon Early Learning Hub has been awarded funds to secure a “training of the trainer” session of Make Parenting a Pleasure in Roseburg. The training is free to participants, and offers a comprehensive look into the research-based, evidence-informed program. Generally, in order to take part in this training, participants need to pay several hundred dollars and attend a course in Lane County. This training offers the same service for free, right here in Douglas County.
Make Parenting a Pleasure is a crucial piece of the parent education opportunities offered through the Parenting Hub. The program strives to teach parents that they are their family’s foundation, that parenting is the most challenging and important job there is, and that positive parenting skills are learned.
We have 20 spots available for anyone interested in becoming a Make Parenting a Pleasure trainer. While the cost is free, we are asking participants to commit to facilitating two 10-week Make Parenting a Pleasure series within the next three years.
The trainings are scheduled for 8:30 to 5 on April 23rd and 24th at the Douglas ESD. If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact Parent Engagement & Education Program Facilitator Kat Wolcott at (541) 817-3119.
